CMOS Process Variations: A Critical Operation Point Hypothesis April 2, 2008 lecture by Janak H. Patel for the Stanford University Computer Systems Colloquium (EE380). Prevailing understanding of a chip's behavior under large process variations with statistical delay assumptions leads one to conclude that a small number of errors are likely as we progress further down on Moore's Law. This understanding is challenged by a new hypothesis which states that in every large CMOS chip, there exist critical operations points (frequency, voltage, temperature) such that it divides the 3-D space in to two distinct spaces: Error-free operation and Massive errors. Linear/Log CMOS Image Sensor System : DigInfo DigInfo - http://movie.diginfo.tv Konica Minolta has developed a linear/log CMOS image sensor system that achieves wide, dynamic range imagery. Because of its wide, dynamic range, the linear-log CMOS image sensor system maintains gradation sequencing compared to previous systems and features low-noise linear characteristic in the low illumination region, and its logarithmic characteristic in the high illumination region. The wide dynamic range of Konica Minolta's image sensor achieves effective imagery display and makes it ideal for applications that include in-vehicle mounting for monitoring and security of both inside and outside the vehicle, general surveillance situations, and can also be used for a web camera. Scaling Beyond CMOS Dr. Michael Garner, program manager of Emerging Materials Roadmap at Intel, to discuss the importance of research of novel silicon technology, keeping Moore's Law alive and well through the next decade and beyond. Among other things, Intel is researching how to go beyond planar transistors to 3D transistors and is looking at using compound semiconductors to replace silicon in the transistor channel. Looking further out, Intel is exploring into a variety of non-charge-based technologies that could one day replace CMOS altogether. Tags: Intel Silicon CPU IDF Developer Forum Moores Law |

Squarewave Step Sequencer - CMOS Oscillator/Circuit Bent Hello. This is my Squarewave Step Sequencer, made from CMOS ICs. It has eight selectable oscillator steps, which all have and on/off switch, pitch control and LED indication. Steps one and five also have a light sensitive pitch control mode, which can give a theremin effect ect. Frequency modulation can also be achieved by turning the speed pot right up. It can also create arpeggiation! Basically, its a lot of fun to mess around with. Tags: Circuit bent sequencer squarewave oscillator |
