Nowhere to hide JJ Cale Reluctant rock hero J.J. Cale takes the spotlight for this 80-minute session, recorded in Los Angeles in 1979 but virtually unseen until 2001. The reclusive, Oklahoma-born Cale is probably best known for writing songs made famous by others ("After Midnight" and "Cocaine" by Eric Clapton, "Call Me the Breeze" by Lynyrd Skynyrd). Those are among the some two dozen tunes heard here (five of which, including "Breeze," are audio-only bonus tracks), as is Cale's own minor hit, "Crazy Mama." The latter is a good example of the witty, laconic groove that Cale, a superb guitar player and laid-back vocalist, brings to much of his music, an appealing style that's been an obvious influence on Mark Knopfler and others. All of that, plus a good band that includes Leon Russell on organ, is just enough to overcome the amateurish, public access feel of the DVD's sound and visuals. -- Tags: JJ Cale blues country |

shrek - hallelujah - john cale - rufus wainwright IITM you are watching r.m.s.h, , a student of IITM the first academic award film [2001]... film: shrek year: 2001 Artist: John Cale Album: Shrek Soundtrack - Rufus Wainwright writer: leonard cohen Film Music Composer: Harry Gregson-Williams John Powell my most lovable favorite... is impressive with its simplicity. it's just a guy with his piano. lyrics: I've heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music do you? It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift The baffled King composing Hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you She tied you to a kitchen chair She broke your throne, and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Maybe I've been here before I know this room, I've walked this floor I used to live alone before I knew you I've seen your flag on the marble arch Love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah There was a time when you let me know What's real and going on below But now you never show it to me, do you? And remember when I moved in you The Holy Dark was moving too And every breath we drew was hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Maybe there's a God above And all I ever learned from love Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you And it's not a cry you can hear at night It's not somebody who's seen the light It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah about the film shrek.. Shrek, an animated feature film, by DreamWorks Animation debuted in 2001, and is very loosely based upon William Steig's 1990 fairy tale picture book entitled Shrek! It was directed by New Zealander Andrew Adamson and Los Angeles artist Vicky Jenson and animated by DreamWorks Animation SKG. Shrek was the first film to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, a category introduced in 2001. starring voices: Mike Myers - Shrek Eddie Murphy - Donkey Cameron Diaz - Princess Fiona about the singer ... Rufus McGarrigle Wainwright (born July 22, 1973) is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter. Since 1998, he has recorded five albums of original music, several EPs, and numerous tracks included on compilations and film soundtracks. He is the son of Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, brother of Martha Wainwright, and half-brother of Lucy Wainwright Roche. bout the song lyrics... Hallelujah" is a song written by Leonard Cohen. Rufus Wainwright covered the song as well, and his version appears on the film's soundtrack album rather than Cale's. This is apparently because Wainwright is signed with Dreamworks SKG and Cale is not. The film version excludes the more sexually suggestive verses,, and it chops off the line "maybe there's a god above" from the beginning of the last verse...
