Operação Prato - Linha Direta Mistério O fenômeno, segundo relato das vítimas, emitia um feixe luminoso, que as deixava em estado de inanição. A população apelidou o misterioso movimento de luzes de "Chupa-chupa", pois havia a crença de que o feixe luminoso sugava o sangue das pessoas. Assustadas e desprotegidas, muitas famílias optaram pela fuga. Porém, parte da população decidiu enfrentar o desconhecido. Os moradores armaram-se com paus, pedras, velhas espingardas e terçados e passavam as noites em vigília, aguardando a aparição das luzes. Para tentar evitar a aproximação do objeto, acendiam fogueiras, batiam em latas, apitavam e soltavam fogos de artifício. Impotentes diante de tanta desordem, os prefeitos da região pediram ajuda às Forças Armadas. Daí surgiu a misteriosa Operação Prato. A missão era sigilosa e durou oficialmente apenas quatro meses. O cancelamento, sem qualquer tipo de explicação, frustrou o então capitão Uyrangê Bolívar Soares de Hollanda Lima e sua equipe, que estavam, na opinião deles, obtendo avanços notáveis. Segundo Hollanda, os militares não viram apenas luzes, mas naves espaciais gigantescas, que teriam sido filmadas e fotografadas pela equipe. Em outubro de 1997, Hollanda, então coronel reformado, supostamente suicido-se no Rio de Janeiro, enforcando-se com o cordão do seu roupão. Sua estranha morte é mais um ingrediente misterioso dessa fantástica história.
