Scout Niblett's Take Away Show - Wolfie & Baby Emma The Take Away Shows are a weekly Video Podcast produced by the french weblog "La Blogothèque". The live sessions are shot in a spontenaous and improvised way, creating intimate and beautiful moments of pure emotion and unplanned surprises... You have to check their site here: www.blogotheque.net/takeawayshows you'll see Arcade Fire playing in an elevator, St Vincent playing on a bed in some Parisian apartment, Beirut playing in the streets and so many more... This particular session is my new favourite one...Scout singing Wolfie while climbing up some neverending stairs, stomping and the repetitive singsong tunes. Scout is elsewhere when she sings, her features harden and when her voice rises, when she insists, it hurts, it flows right through you and forms knots, you hold your breath, close your eyes and your stomach get tense, and you want it to never end because it hurts, but the kind of pain you need to feel alive... What a magical, intimate scene, and you should see the girlish smile which illuminates her face, right after she finished the song! Then, she sings Baby Emma. Her hair hid her face, Scout almost spat her song, her face once again completely changed, the notes coming from the cello will make you shiver, moanings coming from nowhere, rattles, and still this pain... At the end of this improvised duet, Scout, roguish, gives thumbs up and starts laughing, real happy for what just happened Tags: scout niblett folk rock blogotheque janis joplin pj harvey catpower chan marshall |

WOLFIE short film Here's a short film I shot and directed with the help of friends, on a very thin shoestring budget. It's a twisted fairy tale staying true to Brothers Grimm mixed with some old fashioned Hammer House horror. A New Life for Wolfie (Pomeranian) This slide show records Wolfie's remarkable re-socialisation from the start of his training in October 2007 when he was 4yrs of age, up to the present. When he was a puppy of between 10 and 11 weeks old, Wolfie, who was very hyperactive, fell into a Hypoglycaemic coma which left him with brain damage. Although always happy at home, he resented going out and feared strangers, even to the point of not wanting to pass anyone at close quarters. When people visited our home, he was wary at first, then he would begin to accept them. However, should they have been out of his sight for 10 minutes or more, he usually failed to recognise them when they reappeared. A friend who has had experience with problem dogs suggested that I take him to an obedience class where he would learn by repetition, which might boost his confidence by helping to compensate for the short term memory loss which was making him feel so insecure. He started at the Bridgend & District Canine Assoc. Kennel Club Good Citizens' Training Classes Classes on 3rd October 2007. The instructors, Wendy and Kath, were fully aware of his problems and were very patient with him, allowing him to become acclimatised in his own time. The results have been not far short of amazing. Wolfie passed his Bronze Test in December. He now loves going out and about, no longer fears strangers, and likes amusing children, but prefers to approach everyone in his own time. On 30th July he passed his Silver GC Test, which is particularly challenging for a dog with Wolfie's history. He is a brave little soul and it is so rewarding to see how his life has been transformed, and to have been part of the process. Tags: Pomeranian Dog Training Wolfie |
