Grand Theft Autumn (Where Is Your Boy Tonight?) Music Video During first semester, I was in TV Productions; one of our projects in December was to make a music video. My group had the only females in the entire class: me, Lydia, and Shani. We chose, after MUCH deliberation, to do Grand Theft Autumn as our song. A lot of the time was spent at the beginning, crafting the storyboard and trying to get the other two to stop talking, but as with anything in TV, most of it was spent in iMovie, meticulously editing piece by piece to sync with the music at exactly the right moment. Unfortunately, one of my favorite edits wound up as a very confusing blackout, which Lydia took home on the last day to fix (read: save our asses). I'm keeping it that way, simply because it does look awesome, and because I don't have the time to re-edit the entire thing. (It took about four days of the period, during lunch, and one day with after school editing to finish it. Yeah.) There were a few things that were bugging me that wound up not quite synced, so I've been fiddling with it for the past few hours or so. (Hush, it's been a while since I used iMovie. I'm not in TV Pro anymore; I switched out due to interpersonal conflicts.) Another unfortunate thing that happened was that Shani's time as a transfer student ended, and she went back to her home in Israel before the footage was even done being taped, and thus she has not seen the video yet. We got an 88.5%, because the storyboard was a day late after I had to fix about twenty things we had changed, and we didn't have CGI with actual words on the screen. That does not make any sense: we thought CGI = image = fake fog. That seems about right, yes? Well, apparently not. It was quite vexing, and I told Schaefer so. I'll probably put up a blooper reel at some point, just for the hell of it. By the way, the two songs used (Grand Theft Autumn and This Ain't A Scene, It's an Arms Race) are both copyright Fall Out Boy. This is despite the fact that "scene" will never sound like "scene" in that song and will instead, forever and for always, sound like "city." Backstory for the video: There's a couple, and they just broke up. The boy is singing about the girl, who now has nothing to do and spends a lot of her time wandering around (the school) and crying sometimes. (The parts in black-and-white are, for the most part, what the guy's doing now, but when he's being goofy in the car it's a flashback.) It's nothing amazing, and there are no huge plot twists or anything: it's just a boy and a girl, living life and getting through. Filmed on location at: Walt Whitman High School and the Hohenboken house. Comments that are not chain letters are appreciated - I'd like to know how I did not concerning the rubric.
