JOHN DENSMORE AND GENE BOWEN AT HEN HOUSE STUDIOS HenHouseStudios.com Old friends Gene Bowen and John Densmore recently joined forces to lay down a few songs at The Hen House. Bowen had written the songs many years ago and was very excited to finally bring them to life. With Densmore, formerly of The Doors, on the drums, Jimmy Hazz on the bass and Art Ellis on the soprano saxophone, Bowen had all the necessary pieces in place to create three classic songs. Bowen plays the guitar as well as sings his very inspiring and thought-provoking lyrics. Their music will take you back a few decades and remind you of a time when songs were like poems, full of heart and soul. The Hen House enjoyed the journey and so will you.-Hen House Studios is a record label and documentary film company in Venice, California. JOHN DENSMORE AND MICHAEL C FORD AT HEN HOUSE STUDIOS HenHouseStudios.com Michael C. Ford is the first poet to record at the Hen House. He has recited his poems with music accompaniment on two different projects thus far. The first had John Densmore, a Hen House veteran, drumming while Ford read a poem about the history of the American drummer. Ford has a wonderfully expressive voice and a great delivery. His writing is intelligent and very witty. Ford often draws from history and politics as subject matter. Ford's work was recognized in 1998 when he was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and in 1986 when he was nominated for a Grammy. His latest project at The Hen House has him reciting one of his poems with a full band. The Doors - The End - (ORIGINAL VERSION) ~ vIDeo exPerIEnCE ~ JiM Morrison. Ray Manzarek. Robby Krieger. John Densmore This is NOT the The Apocalypse Now version of "The End" that is all over YouTube. A.N. chops out a lot of great stuff. It is cool for what it is. But it aint the original! Enjoy the original w/ original ((~vIDeo~)). ""The End" is a song by The Doors. Originally a song Jim Morrison wrote about breaking up with a long time girlfriend, it evolved through months of performances at Los Angeles' Whisky a Go Go into a nearly 12-minute opus on their self-titled album. The band would perform the song to close their last set. It was first released in January 1967." "The Doors were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles by vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore, and guitarist Robby Krieger. They were one of the most controversial bands of their time, due mostly to Morrison's cryptic lyrics and unpredictable stage persona. Since the band's dissolution in the 1972 — and especially since Morrison's death in 1971 — interest in the Doors' music has remained high, especially from The Morrison Era." "The band took their name from the title of a book by Aldous Huxley, The Doors of Perception, which was in turn borrowed from a line in a poem by the 18th century artist and poet William Blake: "If the doors of perception were cleansed, every thing would appear to man as it is: infinite"." Morrison: "Everytime I hear that song, it means something else to me. It started out as a simple good-bye song probably just to a girl, but I see how it could be a goodbye to a kind of childhood. I really don't know. I think it's sufficiently complex and universal in it's imagery ..." Wikipedia.com We had a lot of fun doing this "video". We have been musicians for years and have been doing visual art for years as well but we have just recently been involved in creating videos. We hope you enjoy our interpretation of the song and the imagery that it evoked for us. We are learning (albeit slowly) to get better at this. Who knows? Maybe we will put out something really good someday. Until than please enjoy our attempts.
