H.R. 6304: FISA for Dummies If you're like most Americans, you've spent more time thinking about Jessica Alba's cleavage or George Clooney's hairline than reading up on H.R. 6304, the FISA Amendments Act. But this bill, to be voted on by the Senate during the second week of July 2008, is much more important than Jessica's bust or George's baldness. If the bill passes, it stands to affect you and your family directly. How does this affect your family? What could President George W. Bush do to your kids if this bill passes? Why won't you hear about this bill ever again once Congress passes it into law? What can you do to protect your family and stop H.R. 6304? Keith Olbermann Special Comment FISA Here's an excerpt: In a Presidency of hypocrisy, an Administration of exploitation, a labyrinth of leadership, in which every vital fact is a puzzle inside a riddle wrapped in an enigma hidden under a claim of executive privilege supervised by an idiot, this one is surprisingly easy. President Bush has put, protecting the Telecom giants from the laws...ahead of protecting you from the terrorists. He has demanded an extension of the FISA law, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, but only an extension that includes retroactive immunity for the Telecoms who helped him spy on us. Congress has given him, and he has today signed, a fifteen day extension, which simply kicks the time bomb down the field, and has changed nothing of his insipid rhetoric, in which he portrays the Democrats as 'soft on terror' and getting in the way of his Superhuman efforts to protect the nation... when, in fact, and with bitter irony, if anybody is 'soft on terror' here it is Mr. Bush. Thank you Obama for voting for FISA http://www.myspace.com/kendalldeans/ Obama voted in support of FISA, a bill he said that he wouldn't support. The bill grants the government the right to listen in to phone conversations with out a warrant. It also grants immunity for telecom companies for cooperating with the feds. Obama and FISA Obama is caving to pressure (i.e. flip flopping) and voting for FISA. He says he's going to press to remove immunity. If he doesn't believe in it, why vote yes? Just don't vote.
