40 Gbps Optical Transmission Technology : DigInfo DigInfo- http://movie.diginfo.tv/ With the optical fiber network becoming more prevalent these days with every home directly accessing optical fiber, there's a call for optical transmission network between cities to transfer massive data than ever before. In the April of 2006, Yokogawa and Fujitsu collaborated in developing the world's first Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (DQPSK), a transmitter and receiver which receives digital signal and transmits to optical signal. The optical transmission module is compact with 110 x 320 x 40 mm and consumes 35W of electricity. They have already produced 100 of these modules and performed a feasibility test to make sure that it works reliably under changes in operational environment due to fluctuations in temperature and power supply voltage. This development contributes to the core network between large cities, from Tokyo to Osaka, a distance of 800 kilometers. Tags: diginfo Yokogawa DQPSK Transponder |

Towards HardLANs: Building intrusion detection to 1 Gbps... Google Tech Talks February 21,2007 ABSTRACT: With the advent of worms, passive malcode, and sophisticated attackers, the "Big Firewall" model of security has failed. To build robust commercial networks in the future, security will need to move into the LAN infrastructure. The LAN vantage point requires a nearly two-order-of-magnitude cost/performance improvement over conventional network intrusion detection and response. In this talk, I introduce the rational for LAN-centric defences and the difficulties in implementing for these targets. I will then discuss our work on Shunting, a technique which enables the Bro intrusion detection to operate at Gigabit line rate with the addition of a...
