"G-Force: Guardians of Space" (1986) - Ep.1 (Part 1 of 3) Episode title: "The Robot Stegosaur" Summary: A huge robot in the shape of a prehistoric monster raids and steals from a uranium storage facility, leaving the International Science Organization and it's delegates of various countries concerned and baffled as to the source of this destruction. Dr. Benjamin Brighthead, the only person to previously knew of this menace, steps up and officially anounces the existence of both the evil alien "Galactor", as well as the "G-Force" squadron formed to defend the earth from Galactor and his army of soldiers and robots. ------------------------------- This is the very first episode of "G-Force: Guardians of Space" (1986), the second of three English dubs to Tatsunoko Productions' "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" (1972), following "Battle of the Planets" (1978) and preceding ADV Film's uncut Gatchaman release (2005). Episodes and footage for this dub are VERY hard to come by (in English), so enjoy the episode and let your voice be heard if you were or are a fan of "G-Force: Guardians of Space'. The more fans who speak out the closer we could get to an opportunity for a full series release on DVD! Also feel free to contribute any G-Force: GoS episodes or footage you may have!!! "G-Force: Guardians of Space" (1986) - Ep.18 (Part 1 of 3) Episode title: "Submarino Ballena" ("The Whale Submarine") (Pilot) Summary: A huge whale attacks and cripples a metropolis along with it's bridges and harbors. When all "fingers" point to the involvement of the sinister alien Galactor and his men, Dr. Benjamin Brighthead dispatches his secret "G-Force" organization (consisting of leader Ace Goodheart, second-in command Dirk Daring, Agatha June, Pee Wee and Hoot Owl, pilot of the team's ship "Pheonix") and sends them to further investigate these incidents. With the help of an orphaned baby whale that youngest member Pee Wee rescued, G-Force with Pheonix in tow head to the Artic Circle, which all leads point to as the location of a hidden, underground base belonging to Galactor, from where he plans to launch a fleet of deadly whale submarines set to attack harbors all over the world. ---------------------------- This is the first of two pilot episodes to "G-Force: Guardians of Space" (1986), itself the second of three English dubs to Tatsunoko Productions' "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" (1972), following "Battle of the Planets" (1978) and preceding ADV Film's uncut Gatchaman release (2005). Unlike some shows whose pilot episodes are also their first episodes (like the aforementioned "Battle of the Planets"), the producers behind "G-Force" selected two out-of-order "Gatchaman" episodes as the pilots for the adaptation, with this episode being the first and "Galactor's Deadly Trap" (Episode 85, originally "Gatchaman" Episode 87) being the second pilot and coincidentally the last episode of the "G-Force" dub. The pilots to "G-Force" are unique amongst the rest of its episodes for having replaced all of the original Gatchaman music with new music composed by Dean Andre, which was part of the proposed additional music score that would've replaced Hoyt Curtin's score from "Battle of the Planets". Due to budget constraints, the new score wasn't utilized beyond the pilots and left on the cutting room floor, with the rest of G-Force's episodes retaining the Gatchaman score and supplementing it with the sole synth instrumental that was able to be afforded. Unfortunately, seeing as "G-Force" had more of a following in the international market than in the U.S. and aired more frequently abroad, I only have the Spanish dub of this episode to offer you as foreign-language dubs of the show's episodes are ironically easier to get ahold of than the original English ones. It also doesn't help matters that "G-Force" hasn't been released in it's entirety on home video (to this day). All fans of the "G-Force" dub should lobby for a full DVD release, as it's the only possible way to save the show and ever see it again!!! Meanwhile, enjoy the episode!!!
