HUNTED LIKE ANIMALS - Hmong Attacked With Chemical Weapons HUNTED LIKE ANIMALS © 2007, made by award winning filmmaker Rebecca Sommer.http://www.rebeccasommer.org/ The ethnic Hmong Lao refugees who fled from Laos to Thailand explain what the military inside of Laos did to them, while they were running and hiding, half starved, from the attacks by the soldiers. Some footage in the 75 minute-long educational documentary "Hunted Like Animals" was filmed by the Hmong-in-hiding themselves- in the mountainous conflict areas of Laos. (Cameras were smuggled in, and tapes out of the conflict area by Fact Finding Commission.) Thousands of Hmong Lao fled from Laos to Thailand - starting 2004- to escape increasing military attacks inside of Laos, and settled in Thailand's Ban Huay Nam Khao Refugee Camp. Over 1300 DVD of HUNTED LIKE ANIMALS were disseminated to governments, UN system and NGOs. Even so diplomats and UN officials has no access to the people-in-hiding inside of Laos, or to the refugees in Thailand's refugee camp - HUNTED LIKE ANIMALS brings the voices of the desperate Hmong Lao directly to them. The refugees want the world to know what they have endured, and speak on behalf of many thousands of Hmong left behind -- who are still trapped inside of remote mountainous jungle areas, chased, attacked, tortured, mutilated, killed, starving -- AT THIS VERY MOMENT !!!!! Please contact the filmmaker Rebecca Sommer, if you would like to order a DVD - or if you have questions: SommerFilms@gmail.com Tags: Hmong Refugee Laos Thailand human rights Vang Pao Vietnam War genocide grassroots outreach |

hmong best wishes and thanks to JJEn to make this happen.. Who are we? What am I? Describe me? Migrating from the east to the west. With pride written on our chest. We've been through the biggest test, There's no time for us to rest. Life is no game. So don't put us in shame. You got to understand the elder fames. For all the soldiers who fought for our name. There's no one to blame. Tell me what I want to hear. Tell me is life fair. Is it our dark hair? Is it the way we shape it, is being bias fair? Tell me why I'm grown this way Sorry but my rap got to stay. Listen to what my heart got to say. My apologies for my adaptations. Growing up in the united nations. Just getting my education. Trying to lead this world to better anticipation. You got to learn everybody is unique You can't judge upon the outside, understand before you speak Please don't discriminate For our own sake and learn from the step we take. Why must the young souls always dream, because they know that it will never be? Tell me what is being controlled? In every corner hidden a highway patrol? Always in the ghetto where they rolled. What is the government trying to enforce? Worrying about our test scores? Everyone's too busy with their own course. Or is it the way we sustain. No one understands our pain. Is it all because of the gangs? We had been through so many harsh years. With so many sorrow tears. Death is always near. That's the only thing we have to share. I lived to see peace. A happy dream, maybe it could someday succeed. Together in harmony; like a big family. So tell me. What's the difference between you and me? We all have the same blood line We are from one point in time. C'mon we faced the same things. Don't you think its strange? How you and I been through it together. It's not how we think or know its forever. In our hearts that make us the same. What's the difference between you and me What's the difference? Wake up to this reality and look hard into today's society Tell me what do you see? I know it's not a pleasant scene. Somehow you and I can't walk by each other. And expect one of us to return safely to our mother We are labeling ourselves too much. We can't walk in different town and expect greet We can hope that a same face we don't meet. With racist and prejudice in our lives At least our back is not stab with Hmong knives. Understanding who we are inside. Too much violence and people committing suicide We need to step aside. Give ourselves time. Sometimes I cried, wondering why. Must we let things like this walk by? Hopefully one day we all wake up and think hard in the back of our mind. There is something in life we can't find. In the old times, we used to work together as brothers. We fought many great wars together Hand to hand against different races. We travel across many places. Our ancestor fought to see us to live in peace And please let no more of us to be decease. Many hated us, we've been the outcast. We got to stay strong and make our legacy last Understand our true past because you never know what's next. So tell me What's the difference between you and me? We all have the same blood line We are from one point in time. C'mon we faced the same things. Don't you think it's strange? How you and I been through it together. It's not how we think or know its forever. In our hearts that make us the same. What's the difference between you and me? What's the difference? So sad in our veins, we can never achieve a certain goal In our bloods, we just can't make love to be in our soul. Don't let this be the end to us. Remember who we are. We are HMONG! (What's the difference?) (You are my brother and my sisters) Tags: hmong song dance movies |

Thousands of Hmong face forced repatriation - 01 Mar 08 The United Nations' refugee agency is concerned about Thailand's apparent forced repatriation of a group of about a dozen ethnic Hmong back to Laos. Thousands have lived as refugees in Thailand for decades, claiming they would be persecuted if they were forced back across the border. However, under a repatriation pact, the Thai government will send nearly 8,000 Hmong back to Laos. International monitors have been barred from the country but the Laos government says the Hmong will be safe. Hannah Belcher has our exclusive report. Grey's Anatomy Hmong I put these clips together from the popular tv drama, Grey's Anatomy. It features a "Hmong" girl needing surgery and her family not allowing one until they call her soul back. A Hmong shaman flies in via helicopter to perform a healing ritual in the hospital. A little silly, but its just television. When I first saw this episode on TV, I thought it was so interesting. And I was surprised that for such a long time, no one had it up on youtube, so I decided to put it up. Enjoy! And feel free to voice your opinions. :) FYI: The only actual Hmong person shown in the clip is the shaman. The rest are Hollywood actors paid to portray a Hmong family. Although they didn't use real Hmong people on the show, it doesn't change the storyline. The doctors on the show are not real surgeons either. It's not a big deal. It's called TV. The point of the show is the medical cases, not what kind of people they cast to play the characters. Thank you to everyone for their interest in my video. To answer a common question... The clips from this video were taken from Season 2, episode 5 of Grey's Anatomy titled, "Bring the Pain." What you see in my video is all that they show about the Hmong girl and her family. The rest of the episode deals with the doctors' relationships with each other and other patients. That's REALLY what the show is about. Tags: shaman hmong grey's anatomy |

Hmong refugees sent back to Laos -- July 4 2008 Thailand has started deporting thousands of Hmong refugees to Laos. The Thai government says they are illegal migrants, but the refugees say they fled political persecution. Human Rights groups say they have major concerns for their safety in the communist country. Al Jazeera's Hannah Belcher travelled to Laos to inspect the conditions of Hmong who have just returned. Tags: thailand laos hmong refugees |
