Kingdom Hearts II -027- Beast's Castle 'Beauty and the Beast' is the first and only full-length animated feature film to ever be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. Heightening the level of performance in the era known as the Disney Renaissance (1989-1999, beginning with The Little Mermaid and ending with Tarzan), all animated films following its release have been influenced by its new use of 3D technology. Beauty and the Beast ranked #22 on the American Film Institute's list of best musicals and #34 on its list of the best romantic American movies. On the list of the greatest songs from American movies, Beauty and the Beast ranked #62. In 2002, Beauty and the Beast was added to the United States National Film Registry as being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It was a significant success at the box-office, with more than $171 million in domestic revenues alone and over $377 million in worldwide revenues. This high number of sales made it the third-most successful movie of 1991, surpassed only by summer blockbusters Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. It was also the most successful animated Disney film at the time and the first animated movie to reach $100 million at the box-office. Beauty and the Beast won two Academy Awards for Best Music, Original Score and Best Music, Song for Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's "Beauty and the Beast", sung in the film's most famous scene by Angela Lansbury, and at the end of the film by Céline Dion and Peabo Bryson. Two other Menken and Ashman songs from the movie also nominated for Best Music, Song were "Belle" and "Be Our Guest", making it the first picture ever to receive three Academy Award nominations for Best Song, a feat that would be repeated by The Lion King, Dreamgirls, and Enchanted. Beauty and the Beast was also nominated for Best Sound and Best Picture. It is the only animated movie ever to be nominated for Best Picture. Trivia: In "The Mob Song", Gaston quotes Macbeth by William Shakespeare. "Screw your courage to the sticking place." (I, vii) Lady Macbeth's speech to Macbeth to tell him to kill Duncan. The song "Mountain Town" from South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999), is meant to be a parody of the opening song, "Belle". An entire season 4 episode of Warner Brothers animated series, Animaniacs, named "The Cutie and the Beast", is a straight-out parody of Walt Disney's movie and even includes parodies of some of the more popular songs of the feature. The animated series The Critic parodies this film's title theme with its own version, "Beauty and King Dork". Belle was inspired by other great movie musical heroines. Her peasant dress was loosely based on Judy Garland's (Dorothy) attire from The Wizard of Oz. The scene where Belle runs to the hills singing is a homage to Julie Andrews and the opening scene of 1965's The Sound of Music. Also, towards the end of the film Belle holds the dying Beast in her arms. This is similar to the way Maria holds the slain Tony in West Side Story. In the final scene of the Dreamworks film Shrek, Princess Fiona's "transformation" is similar to the Beast reverting to his human form. Also, in Shrek 2, two of the factory workers are transformed into a clock and a candlestick, a reference to Cogsworth and Lumière. When Belle goes up to the West Wing, the background music is a variation of Aquarium from Camille Saint-Saëns's Le Carnaval des Animaux. In the Simpsons episode Two Dozen and One Greyhounds, Mr. Burns sings a parody of Be Our Guest called See My Vest. The final confrontation between Gaston and the Beast is not unlike that of Rotwang and Freder from the Fritz Lang film Metropolis. The final animation of Belle and the Prince (Human Beast) dancing in the restored ballroom is recycled from Sleeping Beauty and re colored. This was stated in the commentary of the Special Edition DVD. At one point during the song "Human Again", Cogsworth and Mrs. Potts are singing on a fence. Cogsworth is wearing a straw hat, drawing an association with farmers, and is holding a pitchfork with his right hand. Mrs. Potts is to his left. This is very reminiscent of the painting by Grant Wood, "American Gothic." Cogsworth references the Baroque architecture period when he utters the now classic line "If it's not Baroque, don't fix it." Angela Lansbury was reluctant to sing the version of "Beauty and the Beast" which was to be used in the ballroom scene. She agreed to record the song to show to executives and it is this version which appears in the final animated scene. Kingdom Hearts II -065- Pride Rock Music Elton John and Tim Rice wrote five original songs for this film, with Elton John performing "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" during the end credits. Hans Zimmer also contributed to the film a score supplemented with traditional African music and choir elements arranged by Lebo M. The film won Best Original Score and Best Original Song ("Can You Feel the Love Tonight") in both the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. Three songs from the film were nominated simultaneously for the Best Original Song Academy Award ("Can You Feel the Love Tonight", "Circle of Life" and "Hakuna Matata"), with "Circle of Life" also being nominated simultaneously in the same category at the Golden Globe Awards. Songs These are the musical numbers of the film, listed in order of appearance. "Circle of Life" is sung by an off-screen Carmen Twillie, with African vocals by Lebo M and his African choir. This song is played during the ceremony where a newborn Simba is presented to the animals of the Pride Lands. The song is reprised at the end of the film, during the presentation of Simba and Nala's newborn cub. "The Morning Report", a song originally not in the film (it was created for the live musical version), was added with an accompanying animated sequence in the 2003 Platinum Edition home video re-release. Sung by Zazu (Jeff Bennett), Mufasa (James Earl Jones) and young Simba (Evan Saucedo), the song is an extension of the scene in the original film where Zazu delivers a morning report to Mufasa, and later gets pounced on by Simba. "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" is sung by young Simba (Jason Weaver), young Nala (Laura Williams), and Zazu (Rowan Atkinson). Simba uses this musical number in the film to distract Zazu so that he and Nala can sneak off to the elephant graveyard, while expressing his wish to be king as soon as possible. "Be Prepared" is sung by Scar (Jeremy Irons/Jim Cummings), Shenzi (Whoopi Goldberg), Banzai (Cheech Marin) and Ed (Jim Cummings). In this song, Scar reveals to his hyena minions his plot to kill Mufasa and Simba. "Hakuna Matata" is sung by Timon (Nathan Lane), Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella) and Simba (Jason Weaver as a cub and Joseph Williams as an adult). Timon and Pumbaa use this song as a warm welcome to Simba as he arrives at their jungle home, and to symbolize their "no worries" lifestyle. Simba grows into a young adult by the end of the song. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" is a love song sung mainly by an off-screen Kristle Edwards, with Timon (Nathan Lane), Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella), adult Simba (Joseph Williams) and adult Nala (Sally Dworsky). This musical sequence shows Timon and Pumbaa's frustration at Simba falling in love, and the development of Simba and Nala's romantic relationship. The song won the Oscar for Best Original Song during the 67th Academy Awards. Eat Pumbaa is a song Timon sings to distract the hyenas, which portrays Pumbaa as easy food. On Classic Disney: 60 Years of Musical Magic, this includes Circle of Life, Hakuna Matata, and I Just Can't Wait to Be King on the red disc, Can You Feel the Love Tonight on the blue disc, and Be Prepared on the green disc. And on Disney's Greatest Hits, this also includes Circle of Life on the blue disc, Hakuna Matata on the green disc, and Can You Feel the Love Tonight on the red disc. Kingdom Hearts II: Ecstasy One of my more recent videos, if you can call two years ago recent. I put it on private but I decided to take it off because of the problems I was having letting people I wanted to see it see it. It's also been brought to my attention that quite a few people have "illegally" downloaded my video, because I never made the video available to anyone. Which, frankly, bothers me, because I had a good reason to take it down. I'd like to ask now that anyone who has my video up take it down, because there's no point in having copies up. And it's also sad that the one video that's not yours is the only one with any views (you know who you are). Too bad there's no way to report stealing when we BOTH infringe copyright, haha. On that note - Kingdom Hearts II clips belong to Square Enix. ATB's Ecstasy belongs solely to ATB. I don't claim any of this as my own except the editing. Tags: kh2 ecstasy kingdom hearts II amv |

Kingdom Hearts II -094- Hades Myths of Heracles Birth and childhood A major factor in the well-known tragedies surrounding Heracles is the hatred that the goddess Hera, wife of Zeus, had for him. A full account of Heracles must render it clear why Heracles was so tormented by Hera, when there are many illegitimate offspring sired by Zeus. Heracles was the fruit of the affair Zeus had with the mortal woman Alcmene. Zeus made love to her after disguising himself as her husband, Amphitryon, home early from war (Amphitryon did return later the same night, and Alcmene became pregnant with his son at the same time, a case of superfecundation, where a woman carries twins sired by different fathers). Thus, Heracles' very existence proved at least one of Zeus's many illicit affairs, and Hera often conspired against Zeus's mortal offspring, as revenge for her husband's infidelities. His twin mortal brother, son of Amphitryon was Iphicles, father of Heracles' charioteer Iolaus. On the night the twins sharing the same mother were to be born, Hera, knowing of her husband Zeus's adultery, persuaded Zeus to swear an oath that the child born that night to a member of the House of Perseus would be High King. Once the oath was sworn, Hera hurried to Alcmene's dwelling and slowed the birth by forcing Ilithyia, goddess of childbirth, to sit crosslegged with her clothing tied in knots, thereby causing Heracles to be trapped in the womb. Meanwhile, Hera caused Eurystheus to be born prematurely, making him High King in place of Heracles. She would have permanently delayed Heracles' birth had she not been fooled by Galanthis, Alcmene's servant, who lied to Ilithyia, saying that Alcmene had already delivered the baby. Upon hearing this, she jumped in surprise, untying the knots and inadvertently allowing Alcmene to give birth. The child was originally given the name Alcides by his parents; it was only later that he became known as Heracles.[1] He was renamed Heracles in an unsuccessful attempt to mollify Hera. A few months after he was born, Hera sent two serpents to kill him as he lay in his cot. Heracles throttled a snake in each hand and was found by his nurse playing with their limp bodies as if they were child's toys. Youth After killing his music tutor Linus with a lyre, he was sent to tend cattle on a mountain by his foster father Amphitryon. Here, according to an allegorical parable, "The Choice of Heracles", invented by the sophist Prodicus (ca. 400 BCE), he was visited by two nymphs - Pleasure and Virtue - who offered him a choice between a pleasant and easy life or a severe but glorious life: he chose the latter. One of Heracles' challenges was put to him by King Thespius of Thespiae who wished him to kill the Lion of Cithaeron. As a reward, the king offered him the chance to impregnate each of his 50 daughters. Accordingly, Heracles did this in one night (sometimes referred to as his 13th Labour). Later in Thebes, Heracles married King Creon's daughter, Megara. However, Hera drove Heracles into a fit of madness during which he killed both Megara and their children. Upon realizing what he had done, he fled to the Oracle of Delphi. Unbeknownst to him, the Oracle was guided by Hera. He was directed to serve King Eurystheus for 12 years and perform any task which he required, resulting in the Twelve Labors of Heracles. Kingdom Hearts II - Sora & Leon & Cloud Vs. Sephiroth This was a user request video from salsamanmanman and..someone else that I don't remember. I know this is sort of a cliche fight, but more than one person requested it, so I figured I'd just do it. I had a theory that maybe Cloud and Leon wouldn't be as powerful if I was a lower level. Seems I wasn't 100% right. Cloud still does massive damage with his combos, but Leon does practically nothing. I was hoping for the fight to last longer, but didn't work. Anyways, the fight was still maybe a slight challenge. I actually got it on my first try, but because I'm only level 42, one combo can kill me (I don't have Second Chance or Once More), and as you can see in the video, I almost did die once. When he got to his final form, I just sat back and watched them fight it out a little to keep the fight going, then decided to end it. Kingdom Hearts II -021- Hollow Bastion Yuffie (ユフィ・キサラギ, Yufi Kisaragi?) from Final Fantasy VII (ファイナルファンタジーVII, Fainaru Fantajī Sebun?) was used instead of Rikku, as she was involved in FFX-2 at the time. But traces of Rikku's intended attire remain on Yuffie during Kingdom Hearts and Chain of Memories. By Kingdom Hearts 2, Yuffie wore the clothing she had on FF7: Advent Children. In the Japanese version, Yuffie was voiced by popular seiyuu Yumi Kakazu, whose other involvements with SquareEnix besides voicing Yuffie in the FF7 series was to voice Ritz of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance radio-drama and Lyra(Dante) in Fullmetal Alchemist. In the English version of Kingdom Hearts, Yuffie was voiced by Christy Romano, who voiced Yuffie in Advent Children starred in Disney shows like Even Steven and was the title character of Kim Possible. In the English version of Kingdom Hearts 2, however, Yuffie was voiced by Mae Whitman while she voiced her in Dirge of Cerberus. whose last involvement with Haley Joel Osment was as Shanti and was the voice of Rose on American Dragon: Jake Long. Aerith Gainsborough (エアリス・ゲインズブール, Earisu Geinzubūru?) is also from FFVII. Aerith is voiced by Mandy Moore in Kingdom Hearts, Mena Suvari in Kingdom Hearts II (*cringe*), and Maaya Sakamoto in the Japanese versions of both games. She's killed by Sephiroth in the original game. Shame the same can't happen in this one. Cid Highwind (シド・ハイウィンド, Shido Haiwindo?), part of a long tradition of Final Fantasy Cids, is thirty-two years old and the most uncouth of the protagonists, constantly swearing, losing his temper and chain-smoking cigarettes (to be replaced by constantly chewing a toothpick. He is voiced by Chris Edgerly and Kazuhiro Yamaji. Squall Leonhart (スコール・レオンハート, Sukōru Reonhāto?) is from Final Fantasy VIII (ファイナルファンタジーVIII, Fainaru Fantajī Eito?). In that game, he's a quiet type (which isn't the same as saying that he's a emo), and he fancies Rinoa Heartilly (リノア・ハーティリー, Rinoa Hātirī?) (although i think he should have gone with Quistis Trepe (キスティス・トゥリープ, Kisutisu Turīpu?). At least he would have got more action. Finally(!), there's Merlin, who (in this form) appreared in 'The Sword in the Stone' (1963), the Disney animated adaptation of T.H. White's book, featuring an old and funny Merlin (voiced by Karl Swenson) helping a young lad named Wart to become King Arthur. Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix - New Scene - HB / TWTNW scenes Whoa, eight minutes of new scenes! Appear between Mickey blocking the way to Demyx' fight and Demyx' entry in Hollow Bastion. --- Quick Translation by Mors, thanks! When walking down the spiralling staircase, the dialogue that appears is the same as the one in the flashback Mickey has before the 1000 Heartless brawl (Xehanort asking permission for his experiments, which Ansem denies him). Then the well-known lines from the trailer. In TWTNW: Vexen: Zexion! Zexion! Zexion: What's all the fuss about? Vexen: Where's Xemnas? Zexion: At the usual place. Vexen: The "Room of Sleep"? Zexion: If it's urgent, why don't you go and see? Vexen: Stop joking around! I will await his return. I must. This is what happens when we need him and he sleeps. Now, of all times... Xigbar: I'm not so good in that place either. How about you, mister Zexion? Zexion: What are you doing, eavesdropping like this? The mission assigned to you and Xaldin was to look for new members. You shouldn't be able to afford wasting time around here. Xigbar: I'm doing enough work, already! Found another one just yesterday. I think his new name is "Mar-" something or other. With this the Organization now has 11 members. That's quite a number. And so just for today I asked Lexaeus to cover for me so I could take a break... in anticipation of tomorrow's work, that is. Zexion: Then please rest fully. I have work to do for today so I'll be going... Xigbar: So harsh of you. I just want us to have a little fun talk about, say, Xemnas' secret. How many years ago was it? People with the blade of keys started to appear and fought great battles. When they were gone, a man who had lost his memories appeared. Xemnas... no... Xehanort was taken in by Ansem around that time, was he not? Zexion: What of it? Xigbar: The "Room of Sleep"... the underground laboratory where we were studying the darkness within people's hearts, the place which Ansem ordered us to seal-away... The first thing Xemnas did when he got rid of our wise yet bothersome leader was to release the seal and make that room in the depths of the laboratory. After that he frequently went down there and I could hear him talking with someone. Isn't that odd? Xemnas is supposed to be in there alone. Zexion: It seems you really enjoy eavesdropping. Xigbar: I couldn't hear what they were actually saying. And so I feel preoccupied. You're interested too, right? Zexion: I simply want to concentrate on my assignment. You too should concentrate on your real mission and collect more members. We must hurry with the preperations for our new quarters... 11 Organization members is not enough. Xigbar: Our new quarters... oh, Castle Oblivion, right? What does Xemnas hope to achieve by using that? Zexion: We've been told that- Xigbar: There's a reason, one that hasn't been told to anyone. With the "Room of Sleep" comes the "Room of Awakening", the other place. That is what he is seeking; that room, which was not made by Xemnas. Perhaps that is where the other... "friend" is.
