Fischer-Z - Cruise Missiles Fischer-Z - Cruise Missiles Year: 1981 | Album: Red Skies over Paradise Lyrics: We share a common destination. Each person has their time to die. But men are speeding up our journey. By seeing what they can destroy with their Cruise missiles (We're living near those). Cruise missiles (We're looking for those). Cruise missiles (They're not five years away). They're building shelters for the privileged. There won't be room for you and me. So read your pamphlets of precaution. They'll make a laugh until you see that those Cruise missiles (We're living near those). Cruise missiles (We're looking for those). Cruise missiles (They're not five years away). Extra cruise missiles chorus They claim the ultimate solution. To all the problems that we face. It's pointing rockets at the Russions. And hope they don't ed up in Greece. All those Cruise missiles (We're living near those). Cruise missiles (We're looking for those). Cruise missiles (They're not five years away). They're not 5 years away. They're not 5 miles away. Middle East Update - Iran Test Fires Missiles (rockets) (RTTNews, July 8, 2008) - Iran has threatened to attack Israel and the U.S. navy in the Gulf as its first response to any attack on its nuclear sites, media reports quoting a senior aide to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Tuesday. "The first U.S. shot on Iran would set the United States' vital interests in the world on fire," said Ali Shirazi, who is Khamenei's representative to the naval forces of the elite Revolutionary Guards. He said that Tel Aviv and the U.S. fleet in the Persian Gulf would be the targets that would be set on fire in Iran's crushing response. (World Tribune, June 22, 2007) Iran has expanded its naval presence in the Straits of Hormuz, the passage for an estimated 40 percent of global crude oil shipments. The U.S. Navy has determined that Iran has amassed a fleet of fast patrol boats in the 43-kilometer straits. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, responsible for strategic programs, leads the effort. At this point, officials said, IRGC has deployed more than 1,000 Patrol Boats in and around the straits. The vessels, armed with cruise missiles, mines, torpedoes and rocket-propelled grenades, are up to 23 meters in long and can reach a speed of 100 kilometers per hour. (PressTV, Iran, July/2008) Iran has aimed Shahab-3 ballistic missiles at Israel's nuclear sites, including the Dimona plant, Israeli sources have claimed. According to several Western and Israeli media outlets, the sources said that Iran was preparing to retaliate against a possible attack by targeting its ballistic missiles Shahab-3 at Dimona. The Sunday Times said Iran had moved ballistic missiles into launch positions, following an Israeli military maneuver in the Mediterranean earlier this month, which was said to be an apparent rehearsal for an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. (Jerusalem Post, Jul 9, 2008) Defense officials: UN Resolution 1701 on the verge of collapse. United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, passed to stop the Second Lebanon War, is on the verge of collapse as Syria continues to rearm Hizbullah, senior defense officials warned Tuesday night ahead of a scheduled security cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Prime Minister Olmert will convene the cabinet to discuss the rearmament of Hizbullah since the Second Lebanon War and to discuss ways to curb the flow of weapons from Syria to the guerrilla group. During the meeting, the ministers will be briefed by Military Intelligence on Hizbullah's rehabilitation and preparation for another round of violence with Israel. "Syria is rearming Hizbullah at a rapid pace and this is proof that 1701 has completely failed," one official said. Iran test-fired nine missiles Wednesday, including ones capable of hitting Israel, making a dramatic show of its readiness to strike back if the United States or Israel attacks it over its nuclear program. The launches sparked strong U.S. criticism and a jump in oil prices — underlining fears Iran might seal off the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf waterway through which 40 percent of the world's crude passes, if military conflict does break out. The tests of the long- and medium-range missiles did not appear to mark a significant advance in Iran's missile capability — similar ones have been tested previously. But the timing and location were clearly aimed to send a message, coming as Iran has sharply stepped up the tone of its warnings of retaliation if attacked. This week, a top official of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Ali Shirazi, warned Tel Aviv would be "set on fire" in any Iranian retaliation. (PressTV, June 29, 2008) Iran is to dig 320,000 graves in border districts to allow for the burial of enemy soldiers in the event of any attack on its territory, a top commander said on Sunday. "We have plans to dig 15,000 to 20,000 graves in each of the border provinces or a total of 320,000," the commander said.
