(Separate videos, filmed 07.06.12-13) Part 1 of this film was made using infrared light and part 2 by night vision. Part 2 shows up better if looked at from the side. It shows the four young coyotes frolicking and enjoying their childhood. Humans will soon kill them. Young coyotes and foxes seem to use tools. They will play tug of war with sticks (as shown in the beginning of the video). They will also toss sticks back and forth or "hand' them back and forth using their mouths or paws. They like to play with sticks. In the "old" days, the young coyotes used to be very very vocal when they played and from a distance sounded like a group of children. Now with close development, they play in silence. While filming this, my camcorder ran out of film. This camcorder is difficult to load and while I was sitting on the ground unscrewing the tripod attachment with my thumb nail (it took about 10 min. to do this in the dark), the young coyotes actually came up very close (about 10 feet) and watched. But as soon as I was finished and looked up they moved further away. The parents of these coyotes looked enormous - like they could have been over 50 lbs. I had to sneak through some thick woods to get the pictures. I heard noises in the woods while filming and this might have been a parent watching me. Comments and videos show these monster coyotes, e.g., "Coyote attack." Coyotes rarely attack humans. The coyote is very vocal with a number of sounds including barks, yips, whines, growls, and howls. The coyote (Canis latrans) is also called the prairie wolf. It is a mammal belonging to the order carnivora and related to the domestic dog. They range from Panama through Canada. The name coyote came from Mexican Spanish. The Latin name means barking dog. Nineteen subspecies exist. Its fur is grayish-brown to yellowish-brown and can be black or white. It has a long bushy tail.
