Shizuoka Gakuen Farewell Song 1 - Orange (by SMAP) April 13th to 26th, 2008. 22 Thornlie Senior High School students (accompanied by 3 teachers) travel to their sister school, Shizuoka Gakuen in Shizuoka, Japan. Having stayed in Kyoto for the first two nights, we stayed with our host families from Wednesday 16th April until Thursday morning on the 24th April. Our last days were spent in Tokyo, with a day spent at Tokyo Disneyland. This video was taken on the 23rd of April, a Wednesday night, during the farewell party the Shizuoka Gakuen students held for us Thornlie students. The main event for the evening. This was the first song of the two they sang to us that night, not including the little after-show. I started filming a little late into the song, and my battery died about a minute before the end. The funny thing is that I ran out of the room to my bag to get my spare set of batteries, but everyone in the room thought I had run out because it was too emotional for me. Hahaha, sorry guys, I just needed new batteries! The song they sing is Orange by SMAP. Tears were shed, but memories will never be forgotten. Thank you to everyone at Shizuoka Gakuen, we will never forget you!

Shizuoka Setsubun Festival. "Setsubun" is celebrated on February 3 of each ear. It welcomes the beginning of Spring. In this video you see partakers hitting a big wodden box with wooden branches. Inside this box is the "Oni" (鬼) or demon. As part of the cleansing, priests throw roasted soybeans and "mochi" rice cakes. Luckily at Shizuoka Sengen Shrine, we got a Sumo Wrestler to help out! ... Shizuoka Gakuen Farewell Song 2 - Best Friend (by Kiroro) April 13th to 26th, 2008. 22 Thornlie Senior High School students (accompanied by 3 teachers) travel to their sister school, Shizuoka Gakuen in Shizuoka, Japan. Having stayed in Kyoto for the first two nights, we stayed with our host families from Wednesday 16th April until Thursday morning on the 24th April. This video was taken on the 23rd of April, a Wednesday night, during the farewell party the Shizuoka Gakuen students held for us Thornlie students. The main event for the evening. Personally, this was the highlight of our whole 2 week trip, as I believe it would be too to some of the others. Towards the end of the performance all of us were fairly emotional, though it couldn't be helped, this was our final evening with them. The song they sing is Best Friend by Kiroro. Tears were shed, but memories will never be forgotten. Thank you to everyone at Shizuoka Gakuen, we will never forget you!
