Martin FONTAINE ( After Elvis PRESLEY Story ) SHOWMAN After impersonating Elvis for 1,597 performances since 1995, all of which were critically acclaimed & warmly welcomed by the public, Martin FONTAINE will run one last victory lap before hanging up his jumpsuit because he doesn't want his days to end like the King's did. His goal: to take his own place on the international showbiz circuit. Martin FONTAINE wants his life after Elvis to portray his own showmanship, gracing the stage in Las Vegas under neon lights spelling his own name. "With Showman, I want to push beyond my limits, dive into scalding hot water, and re-invent myself with each performance," says the man who enthralled 1.8 million audience members over 12 years while interpreting one Elvis classic after the other, 50,000 times. Like many other Quebecker's artists, Martin FONTAINE wants to make it in the new global music culture. He is aiming for the market of "casino shows; 90-minute performances that don't have an intermission because gamblers have to get back to the gaming tables...." In 2001, Elvis Presley Enterprises, owned by Presley's widow, Priscilla & her brother-in-law, Gary Hovey, released the rights that were preventing Martin FONTAINE from presenting Elvis Story throughout the world... with the exception of New York City & Las Vegas! But Martin FONTAINE was dreaming of pursuing a career on The Strip & raising his two daughters on a ranch in Nevada. Despite phenomenal success on three continents, that big American contract was still out of reach.... Meanwhile, an investor was in Las Vegas dropping between 30 & 50 million U.S. dollars for the right to access the showbiz Mecca. It was Cirque du Soleil that was able to accomplish this feat. Elvis will be back in 2008 in a brand new show created by the company from Montreal (Quebec) CANADA. Martin FONTAINE was not about to sit by the phone waiting for Guy LALIBERTE to call. He decided to launch his own SME & write his own corporate mission statement, making a promise to himself that he would set foot in Vegas one day, only this time he would be singing the songs of his real heroes: Ray Charles, James Brown, & all the other African American singers who made music what it is today. The new show covers no less than 130 pieces, presented in a medley-style, telling the story of how American pop music came into being along the Mississippi River! He will start this new venture singing his favourite Elvis song, If I Can Dream! Now, Martin are in Concert June 7 to July 29,2007 at the Capitole Théâtre of Quebec City for Elvis Story.
