Transcendence for Candlemas An ancient-future mass, in York Minster Crypt and Nave. The feast of the presentation of Jesus in the temple is the turning point from commemorating Christ's birth, to looking towards Lent, the Passion, and the Cross. This multimedia communion service combines ancient chant and ritual, with contemporary image and video. There is lots of movement around the building, from the warm and intimate low-vaulted crypt, to the vast empty space of the cathedral nave. The full event has been edited down to under four minutes, to give you a flavour of what we do. Future Transcendence events happen on the first Sunday of every month, at 7.30pm.
