Japanese popping competition; [はむつんサーブ] Hamutsun Serve Full Version This is a re-post; the previous version was just a highlight of the complete routine. Video from a recent Japan trip; these guys were part of an after comp guest performance set. Two solos and a synchronized set that is pretty much mind bogglingly well accomplished. Tons of body work; including some "jaw-popping". They were one of the highlights of the show. Tags: Japan Popping はむつんサーブ pop dance performing arts |

Japanese pop comp; HitorideDekirumon and 7yr old Tatsuki Video from a recent Japan trip; HitorideDekirumon (ranked #1 in Japan ex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j72RuUhwFY0 with 7yr old Tatsuki as a partner. They act out a Japanese horror movie in one of the oddest sets I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Tatsuki is 7. You know what I was doing when I was 7? Not buying drinks for mama at the bar while waiting for my turn to battle next to the hottest dancer in the nation on New Year's Eve, thats for damn sure. He actually hits the clubs once or twice a week. See many 7 year olds at the clubs in the US? Nope. Cause the US is laaaaame. He had squads of 20 year old girls hanging on him. I asked him if he had a girlfriend and he was like "Gross!" Youth is wasted on the young... =p Tags: Japan たつき ひとりでできるもん HitorideDekirumon Tatsuki Popping pop dance |

J-popping comp; Egu-Splosion does Pirates of the Caribbean Video from a recent Japan trip; these guys were part of an after comp guest performance set. This group put on a whole "Popping Pirates" Opera. Comedy + popping, with outfits and tons of solos. Totally unique and unlike anything I've ever seen in US. Talked to a lot of guys at the comp and other clubs regarding the differences between the USA styles and the Japanese evolved versions; they understood the "point" of dancing in the US, but in Japan going to a hip hop club was more like watching TV than any sort of battling. Want to dance? Bring your own music and perform your set. Like a vaudeville show. Part of the reason for this was over there you could either dance like nobody's business or couldn't pull off a 1,2 step to save their lives. Therefore a club is less group participation by a group of moderately skilled dancers with the occasional showstopper (US style), rather a group of people who love the art watching the few who dancers who have obsessed enough to master it. Very entertaining, very different, very technically accomplished. Tags: Japan Egu-Splosion Popping pop dance |

Japanese popping comp; [ウーミン] U-Min brings the Avant Garde Video from a recent Japan trip; Two guys from U-Min do an an after comp guest performance set. While I realize that 99% of you will not make it through the entire video due to the slow start and super technical style, it it actually well worth a full watching. They have a whole opera here, with great pacing, styles, changing themes, and a nice finish. They have made popping into an entire theater art in the way Stomp did percussion; the four man group has evolved popping into an art far beyond what it is here. Search U-Min for more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvBpE0eiOr8 Extremely technical stuff, and often fascinating. Tags: Japan Popping ウーミン pop dance |

Japanese pop comp; 12 yr. old Strong Machine 2 Polysics girl Video from a recent Japan trip; a "special guest" at a popping dance competition. 10 year old "Strong Machine 2" (famous for the Polysics: I me my mine video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9wSMuCJCkQ has the crowed stunned. Japanese popping competition; J-girl Kazumi Video from a recent Japan trip; a "special guest" at a dance competition. She pretty much destroys everyone. As does the outfit. Lots of body work; the finale she shows herself to be disturbingly flexible. Japanese popping has grown largely isolated from now cliched western standard traditional moves, the show proved overall to be wildy creative, often to good effect (though sometimes to markedly terrible results). An interesting cultural lesson in divergent evolution. Tags: Japan Popping pop dance |

LiquidPopCollective - Digits Tutorial Liquid Pop Collective put this video out some years ago; adding digits to your liquid makes it far more stylish and sophisticated than just relying on the old hand-chasing alone. Add a little candy walk to the mix and you are approaching LiquidPopEric level.
