The Boy in the Striped Pajamas - Trailer The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a fictional story that offers a unique perspective on how prejudice, hatred and violence affect innocent people, particularly children, during wartime. Through the lens of an eight-year-old boy largely shielded from the reality of World War II, we witness a forbidden friendship that forms between Bruno, the son of Nazi commandant, and Schmuel, a Jewish boy held captive in a concentration camp. Though the two are separated physically by a barbed wire fence, their lives become inescapably intertwined. The imagined story of Bruno and Shmuel sheds light on the brutality, senselessness and devastating consequences of war from an unusual point of view. Together, their tragic journey helps recall the millions of innocent victims of the Holocaust. Tags: miramax film films trailer boy in the striped pajamas holocaust nazi germany |

HAPPY-GO-LUCKY Trailer Check it out! Also, Happy-Go-Lucky will be one of the main films at the Toronto International Film Festival this year. In the effervescent new comedy from director Mike Leigh ("Vera Drake," "Secrets & Lies"), Sally Hawkins stars as the unforgettable Poppy, an irrepressibly free-spirited school teacher who brings an infectious laugh and an unsinkable sense of optimism to every situation she encounters as a single woman in London. When Poppy's commuter bike is stolen, she signs up for driving lessons with Scott (Eddie Marsan), who turns out to be her polar opposite -- a fuming, uptight cynic who takes himself extremely seriously. As the tension of their weekly lessons builds, Poppy's story takes alternately hilarious and serious turns -- careening from flamenco classes to first dates--becoming a touching, truthful and deeply life-affirming exploration of one of the most mysterious and often the most elusive of all human emotions: happiness. Brideshead Revisited - Reliable A provocative and suspenseful drama, "BRIDESHEAD REVISITED" tells an evocative story of forbidden love and the loss of innocence set in the pre-WWII era. In the film, Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode, "Match Point," "The Lookout") becomes entranced with the noble Marchmain family, first through the charming and provocative Sebastian Flyte(Ben Whishaw, "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer"), and then his sophisticated sister, Julia (Hayley Atwell, "Cassandra's Dream" and the upcoming "The Duchess"). The rise and fall of Charles' infatuations reflect the decline of a decadent era in England between the wars. Academy Award-winner Emma Thompson co-stars as Lady Marchmain. The film, based on Evelyn Waugh's acclaimed novel is adapted for the screen by multiple BAFTA Award-winner Andrew Davies ("Bridget Jones Diary," "Bleak House") and Jeremy Brock ("The Last King of Scotland") and directed by Julian Jarrold ("Becoming Jane"). REPRISE Trailer The freewheeling passion of youth and the unpredictable perils of fate are both the subject and the breathtaking form of Joachim Trier's lean and kinetic journey through friendship, love, madness and creativity: REPRISE. Trier viscerally captures the way life takes off at rocket-speed in the beginning of adulthood -- and the what-ifs and why-nots that both drive and haunt us as the unbridled hopes of youth come to a screeching halt. Smart People - The Cake Professor Lawrence Wetherhold (DENNIS QUAID) might be imperiously brilliant, monumentally self-possessed and an intellectual giant -- but when it comes to solving the conundrums of love and family, he's as downright flummoxed as the next guy. His teenaged daughter (ELLEN PAGE) is an acid-tongued overachiever who follows all too closely in dad's misery-loving footsteps, and his adopted, preposterously ne'er-do-well brother (THOMAS HADEN CHURCH) has perfected the art of freeloading. A widower who can't seem to find passion in anything anymore, not even the Victorian Literature in which he's an expert, it seems Lawrence is sleepwalking through a very stunted middle age. When his brother shows up unexpectedly for an extended stay at just about the same time as he accidentally encounters his former student Janet (SARAH JESSICA PARKER), the circumstances cause him to stir from his deep, deep freeze, with often comical, sometimes heartbreaking, consequences for himself and everyone around him.
