Memorial for Dick Pasco Our friend, mentor, neighbor, war hero Dick Pasco is memorialized with playing of Taps and a missing man formation flight. Dick flew Spitfires for the CAF during Battle of Britain, came home to run a successful business while still passionate about flying aerobatics. American 757 takeoff St. Martin St. Martin airport has a beach just 20 feet from the edge of the main runway. There are signs telling people you can be killed by being to close to a airplane taking off. I was sure I was smarter than that since I am a pilot and actually flew a 757 into the island. I was standing slightly upwind of the port engine when this AA 757 started it's takeoff. It was actually hilarious, you can see in the video as I get blown right off my feet. American 757 Got a nice video of this AA 757 arriving at St. Martin while I was there on a layover. I am just to the right of centerline on the beach that is 20 feet from the end of the runway. You can hear and see the wingtip vortices as the aircraft goes past. This is why wake turbulence is so dangerous and why the 757 is the king of wake turbulence.
