Desde entonces, ha ganado los corazones de los escenarios en todo el mundo. La versión de la Universidad Panamericana, dirigida por Alejandro Ruiz Velasco, cuenta con letras originales, más de 40 actores en escena, orquesta en vivo y la participación del Coro Infantil del Instituto Pierre Faure y el Ensamble Vocal Cantábile. La trama sigue la historia bíblica de José, a quien su padre, Jacob, regala un asombroso abrigo multicolor que es la envidia de sus once hermanos. Por si eso fuera poco, José tiene sueños proféticos en los que se ve a sí mismo con poder sobre sus hermanos. Son ellos quienes, iracundos, deciden asesinar a José pero, tentados por la avaricia, terminan por venderlo como esclavo a unos mercaderes, quienes finalmente lo llevan hasta Egipto. Allí en Egipto trabaja como esclavo y es encarcelado injustamente. Pero después, con su extraordinario poder para descifrar los sueños, alcanzará el poder y la felicidad que su Dios le tenía preparadas.
