PNAC I consider myself independent, but realize that the whole narrative of American society is being wrenched to the right by the Project for a New American Century. Pretending that Dubya has anything to do with this administration other than getting PNAC's hands on the wheel is just allowing PNAC to remain cloaked, Wizard-of-Oz-style, behind the "good 'ol boy," Bush. It's not a conspiracy; they freely publish their imperial goals on their website-- newamericancentury.org Tags: PNAC Kristol Dubya politics newamericancentury.org |

Bush Incapable of Serious Thought I don't know about you, but I've been listening and watching carefully to George W. Bush since he was a candidate in 2000. In six years, I have never heard him say anything remotely intelligent. Worse, he has displayed a lack of communication skills that personally horrifies me, to think that HE represents ME and MY country. I have 9th grade students who could answer questions more intelligently than he can. That's just not right. Tags: bush bushspeak misunderestimate dubya |

Pat Robertson Overheard During Commercial [[DISCLAIMER: I DID NOT MAKE THIS CLIP; this is from a 1995 documentary called SPIN by Brian Springer. see imdb.com/title/tt0114512/]] The hypocrisy of this evangelical leader becomes evident when he tries to spin his hatespeech into what he is supposed to be saying as a gospel minister: God loves everyone, even sinners. But this video shows him to be every bit the politician and homophobe he really is, behind the scenes. Great insight into the inner workings of a professional spin machine! UPDATE (November 17, 2007): I can't believe how many comments this video has attracted! Kinda cool, that little ole me had somepin to do with this long "conversation." I thank all of the commentors, even the rude and foul-mouthed ones, because (at least until this day) we Americans still cherish our right to free speech! Gotta love the USA! Let's remember to fight for that right when they may try to shut us up. Tags: spin robertson homophobe hatespeech politics republican cnn media |

O'Reilly Lies A favorite tactic of demagogues is the Lie. They get away with outright lies by controlling the mass media, thus avoiding accountability. Fascist dictatorships protect their exploitation and favoritism by dumbing down the masses. Hitler and Stalin, Maoist China and Castro's Cuba, North Korea, all are threatened by the free flow of ideas. That's because their ideas are (or were) terrible! Most of the current admin's own party have sharp disagreements with the demagoguery of Bush & Co. The Republican base, including right-wing Christians, have abandoned the party enough that last November's elections turned a Republican Congress into a Democratically-controlled one. Historians agree that this will have been our worst president to date. Search the world for the foreign leaders who have any love for our President. Not only will you not find them, the most violent foreign leaders hold you and me personally responsible for allowing this dangerous administration to last this long. Hence the increased threats to Americans from the hostile corners of the world. Who is left as the cheerleaders of Bush & Company? Fox News Channel and its owner Rupert Murdoch, and especially talking heads Hannity and O'Reilly, and contributors like Ann Coulter and William Kristol. With Fox's hold on the attention of masses of Americans, loyal Fox viewers are becoming tools of the Neoconservative agenda of the Project for the New American Century. Please, voter, do America and the world which trembles in its shadow a favor: STOP WATCHING FOX NEWS!!! IT'S MAKING YOU STUPID!!! Tags: fox media news oreilly outfoxed politics |

James Blunt - No Bravery I used Windows Movie Maker to create the above. The only reason I used such a buggy, crash-prone program was to demonstrate to my computer students how it could be used. They have recently undertaken some projects on it. I downloaded the images (all except the last, of course) from various sites dedicated to remembering the horrific scenes that the Corporate media refuses to show Americans. I got pics of James Blunt from a CD my wife bought. If you search GoogleVideo or the other free video hosting sites you'll find other versions of the concept (No Bravery song + Iraq war images). I saw one which flashed up a pic of George Bush every time the lyric "he has been here" occurs. I chose not to do that, for several reasons. First of all, George Bush never visited the scenes of human misery his war caused; all his Iraq visits have been sanitized pep rallies before carefully chosen soldier-supporters. Second, to equate the "he" of "he has been here" with Dubya does not allow one to insert their own alternative interpretation of "he" (e.g. war, death, hate, evil, etc.). Finally, http://peacetakescourage.cf.huffingtonpost.com/ has an animation containing even more heart-wrenching pictures, set to "Jesus Loves Me," and is way more hard-hitting than mine, in a different way. Check it out. Tags: blunt bravery |
