| Throwing Muses - Fish promo video from 1986 some trivia: - this is a filmed live performance of 'Fish', so this version of the song is unique to the video. - 2 studio versions of this song were released, a 1985 demo recording that can be found on the "In A Doghouse" double cd, and a later Gil Norton-produced one that ended up on a 1987 4AD various artists comp called "Lonely is an Eyesore". - the video was the winner of a $50,000 grant from A.F.I., which was apparently used to record the extended version of 'Soul Soldier' and produce a video for it. - though the band seems quite young here (Kristin and Tanya were still in their teens), they had actually been performing as Throwing Muses for several years at this point, and had already recorded atleast 3 albums worth of demos plus a 5-song EP. - Kristin was pregnant at the time this was filmed. at the end of the video, you see a reflection in the water that looks like a woman carrying a bundle of some sort. my theory is it is Kristin carrying her newborn baby. - This was done right around the time the band went into the studio to record their 1986 debut album for 4AD. Oddly, 'Fish' didn't make it onto that album. Tags: kristin hersh throwing muses tanya donelly |
